Chapter 2: Rizraell

In the border town of Hal Greif, Lohengrin was born into a family dedicated to the harvesting of the iron flower, which they adopted as their surname, Eisenrose, "The Iron Rose".

With a weak body due to his difficulties at birth, no one expected him to live long enough to enter one of the temple schools that govern Hal Greif's society.

These are in charge of teaching and instructing children from the age of 5 until they are able to go to the battlefield to face the elves that live on the other side of "The Floating Island".

Always in the shadow of his older brother Talloth, he entered the temple school where priests and priestesses instilled in the brains of the youngsters, first fear of the elves, telling them stories and events that had happened before. and invite them to hatred.

Lohengrin was in a learning circle together with Triskel, Minaless and Marion, a circle of 4 young people who should protect the life of the one next to them with their own life.

The girls were made to drink a tea that included pieces of rusty iron. This iron would make their teeth turn black, but at the same time it would make their teeth acquire properties of iron, such as strength. And they were forced to wear blindfolds to increase their sensory capacity.

Triskel and Lohengrin would be forced to digest small doses of poisons to gain immunity, constantly making them sick and vomit, to the point of near death.

Once they join the temple school, the young men are confined without being able to see their families until they have completed their training. One of the stories that most terrified the children was that of the "Ghosts of Rizraell". A group dedicated to raiding and killing every dark elf in their path to facilitate future incursions into their territories.

"Blame it all on those elves and their goddess Thrudd". Basically what they were taught on a daily basis, the hardships and suffering of their race was because the Elves live on the side where the land is fertile, food is plentiful and the sun shines. Whereas on the other side, where Lohengrin was, there was nothing but barren desert land, where it was difficult to gather food, and where food was hard to come by.

food could hardly be gathered and everyone was hunting other "lesser beings" or even cannibalism in many cities became a matter of course in some regions.

"But it's all the fault of those Elves".

One night after a class in which they were taught how to hunt an inferior race, who share similarities with rabbits, they decided not to sleep as the elders ordered them. They talked about what they would do when they left the temple, Triskel wanted to become the best warrior and be remembered as the one who killed the most elves.

Minaless dreamed of becoming a priestess so she could attain the ability to channel Kayhne's power.

Marion wanted to be a hunter to provide food for her family.

And Lohengrin wanted to be like his brother, whom he admired, always perfect in everything he did and everyone was proud of him. Lohengrin longed for that feeling and hoped that one day he would be able to feel it.

During that same night, Minaless sensed that something was not right. Her trained senses made her feel uncomfortable, unsure. So they decided to go out into the large hallway that divided all the dormitories to see what was going on.

Everything was completely silent, Triskel laughed at Minales saying that her senses were deceiving her. Until he lit a candle and the light showed a corridor full of blood on the walls, children dismembered, others hanging from the ceiling skinned, but all in complete silence.

Every time they looked into another bedroom they found another similar image, more young people dead in a horrible way, cut open, others cut into small pieces and then sewn up as if they were puppets.

The four of them decided to go up to the upper rooms where the older students were and where they were sure they could have escaped or defended the temple school, but they only found the same image.

Marion thought that if they were alive it was because they didn't know they were there, so they decided to go to the main entrance to get out of there. They found 8 hooded figures, tall, slender and the only thing they could see in the dark was the glow of their platinum blonde hair. Elves...

With a simple wave of a hand, one of the Elves lit fires around the children, who could see how they had other students kneeling, among them Lohengrin's brother and Triskel's older sister. With a flick of the wrist they made an incision in the chest of Triskel's sister, who began to spill blood, splattering all the hooded men.

Triskel ran towards them to hit them with a metal ornament he found next to him, but a single blow from the hand of one of the hooded men was enough to knock him unconscious. Lohengrin tried to get his brother's attention but in his face he could only see that he accepted his fate, death, and was quickly decapitated in front of him.

The next thing that happened was that the hooded men moved towards the 3 young men as if they were floating through the air, covering a great distance in less than a second. They grabbed the girls by the hair and dragged them up the stairs, dragging them down the sharp steps that decorated the hall, which were tearing at their clothes and skin.

Their screams and their skin peeling away from their bodies were all Lohengrin could see. Unmoved by fear and unable to react to the death of his brother, whom he looked up to as a hero, one of the hooded figures came up behind him and a woman's voice whispered, "We have a surprise in the garden," and the figure began to laugh.

They dragged Lohengrin into the garden, beating him with everything they could find along the way as they laughed and insulted the Dark Elves.

They threw him into the garden where he smelt rotten, where there were flowers there was now ashes and where there were trees there was now a mass of flesh, held together by ropes. Lohengrin for a moment could see among those pieces of flesh the faces of some of his companions who had been torn to pieces only to form the word Rizraell with their bodies.

Lohengrin's clothes were torn and his chest was somehow marked with magic, leaving a dark mark where his skin boiled. Finally, with a dagger they branded his face so that they would know that he had not died like the others, to marked by all. Due to the pain Lohengrin fainted.
